Meet the team. Me.
Hi, my name is Zhong.
I was born, educated and based in Singapore.
I've lived and worked for long periods in China, Qatar, Malaysia and Thailand.
In early 2022, I had a stroke. It came out of the blue.
In late 2024, I lost my job. My 3rd layoff in 12 years.
In late 2025, I started this website.
But it's not all bad news.
The stroke did not leave any permanent impact on my health.
I had finished my house and car mortgage. With some leftover.
I am now able to do the things that I like. This website for example.
I love travelling. I'm now able to travel without responding to emails, remote meetings and calls at all sort of hours.

Some call it bad luck. Some call it divine intervention. Some call it fate. Whatever it was, life can certainly throw one or more curveballs. And life is short.
So, for those who have not started planning for retirement, I hope you cherish health and your family. Start planning even if you think retirement is sometime off. I've seen many arrive at retirement age; lost and some, in ill health.
When is the best retirement age? Everyone's situation is unique. Some say 55, some say 60 while others may argue for 65 and I've certainly heard some say to never, ever retire!
Read our articles. Maybe one or two may just trigger that start in your planning for retirement.
My articles are about healthy nutrition. Which I practise most of the time. That is, till I meet the street food of Bangkok and Seoul. Then I indulge in guilty nutrition for a couple of days. Then, it's back to healthy nutrition.
I run a lot. 6km but every 2 days to keep the heart pumping and the legs going. I go on running events when I travel. And I intend to run till a very ripe old age with my heroes being these senior marathoners who are in their 70s.
I also travel. A lot. I love going to smaller cities and villages. I plonked myself there for a week or two. I get to talk, to drink and eat and to go to trails and tracks with the locals and seeing and experiencing what most tourists do not get to. In Thailand, Malaysia, China, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Vietnam and many others.
And oh, there's a lot if scams going on nowadays, so always be careful with financial advice from anyone!
For those who have started planning or retired and living it up, I welcome your contributions to make this an even better website. Let's form a community for the 40s and beyond, who see retirement not as an end but a start to something active and exciting!
Feel free to copy, link or use any articles. No permission needed. All I ask is you make an acknowledgement and provide a link back to this site.
